DuPage Derby Dames 2016 Season: Ready for the Take Down

On Saturday, March 12, the DuPage Derby Dames speed onto their home track in a double header against the Peoria Push Derby Dames and Fort Wayne Derby Girls.
The 79th-ranked Fort Wayne Derby Girls’ Bomb Squad of Indiana have plans to rain devastation on the Dames’ Uproar, ranked 90th worldwide. But taking down big game is exactly what this pack of fierce competitors intends to do throughout their entire 2016 season.
The Dames plan to climb the rankings of Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) by building relationships with new teams they haven’t played and facing more challenging opponents like Fort Wayne this year. Uproar is striving to make the Division 2 WFTDA playoffs in 2017. This is the year the Dames will lay the groundwork and fight for that opportunity!
The league has built strength from within by empowering their skaters with important decisions such as roster building. They’ve also sent skaters to clinics such as Roller Con and Beat Me Halfway to bring back new skills to the league.
More tournament play is also part of the Dames’ season strategy. They’re excited to bring some Illinois pride to K-Town Shakedown 2016 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, this April. Be a part of the Dames’ journey by joining in their festive fundraising efforts. Any donation will help fund skaters’ travel costs to K-Town Shakedown 2016. As an added bonus, donations are tax deductible since the DuPage Derby Dames are a 501(c)(3) organization!
Additional fundraising will take place with some Dames’ March Madness spirit on Wednesday, March 16. Buffalo Wild Wings® Bloomingdale and Lombard locations will donate 10% of all pre-taxed sales from any guest who mentions the DuPage Derby Dames’ fundraiser. Visit their locations at 140 S. Gary Ave., Stratford Crossing, Bloomingdale or 207 Roosevelt Rd. in Lombard, with sales starting at 11:00 a.m. and remember to say, “Oh Hot Dame!”
The support of Dames’ fans keeps the league thriving—it’s the roll in their wheels and the inspiration that fuels them to try even harder in competition. “As a skater, I’m looking forward to K-Town Shakedown because it’s our first top 100 tournament, meaning the competition will be stiff and no matter what happens, we’ll walk away with a great deal of experience against higher ranked teams and skills to work on for next year. The Dames’ goals for greatness extends into their community work. Their volunteer efforts with the People’s Resource Center, a local charity, help provide food, clothing, and shelter for those in need. These smiling skaters bring the same energy and passion to stocking food pantries and dishing out meals that they do when dishing out big hits on the track.
