These April bouts will prepare the Dames for the K-Town Shakedown 2016 at the Wing Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on April 29, through May 1. This tournament is the first recognized by the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) and welcomes WFTDA Divisions 1 through 3 A and B teams, as well as Men’s Roller Derby Association (MRDA) leagues from all around the world. K-Town Shakedown is the second-ever tournament for the Dames and gives the lion-hearted skaters a chance to battle their way up in the WFTDA rankings. This could even be the first step toward making Division 2 playoffs! Currently ranked #79 of 369 WFTDA member leagues, the Dames only have 20 steps to climb!

Some familiar teams the Dames will be up against at the K-Town Shakedown include Kilkamazoo Derby Dames (Kalamazoo, MI); Grand Raggidy Roller Derby (Grand Rapids, MI); Ann Arbor Derby Dimes (Ann Arbor, MI); Brewcity Bruisers (Milwaukee, WI); and St. Chux Derby Chix (St. Charles, MO).

Fans are the driving force behind the DuPage Derby Dames as they skate their way toward reaching the Division 2 playoffs. Fans can help send the Dames to Kalamazoo with donations at https://www.generosity.com/sports-fundraising/dupage-derby-dames-go-to-k.... With tax day quickly approaching on April 18, the Dames remind fans that the league is a 501(c)(3) organization, and donations like are tax deductible. Donors (AKA “super fans”) will also receive sweet roller derby swag and tickets based on their donation level.

Committed to supporting their local community, the Dames volunteer regularly at the People’s Resources Center’s regional locations. They assist visitors in need as they shop through the food pantry items and restock the shelves using their mighty lion strength. “A favorite activity is birthday bags,” explains league member Bloody Murray. “When we hear the age and gender of the kids who have birthdays that month, we put bags of donated toys together and give them cake or cupcakes.” The Dames will be helping out at the People’s Resource Center in Westmont on April 9.

With your support, the Dames will bring pride to the DuPage area—both on and off their skates. See their complete 2016 season schedule at https://dupagederbydames.com/schedule.
